Causes Of A Dry
Hacking Cough:
When the "Yin" (the
moistening abilities of the Lung) is damaged then a dry hacking cough
may develop. This type of cough may be caused by multiple factors which
include chronic and severe disease, long term exposure to cigarette
smoke, excessive use of bronchodilators, steroid treatments, or as well
as any prolonged exposure to hot or drying environments.
Clinical
Features of Dry Hacking Cough:
- Chronic weak hairball
type cough
- Dry cough with little or no mucus
- Fatigue
- Cat is getting thinner, losing weight
- Your cat will seem to be
warm, wants cool spots
Clinical Notes:- This
pattern of coughing may be associated with biomedical conditions such as
chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, silicosis, pharyngitis, atmospheric
pollution, long term asthma, or a collapsed trachea.
- This type
of coughing takes time to treat satisfactorily, plan on three months of
herbs, expecting small improvements the longer you give the herbs.
